Charlene Hale first got her taste of the New Orleans area tourism industry when she began working as an Account Manager with USA Today which was available in hotels on a daily basis around the city. Charlene immediately got involved in networking which led to her becoming the Allied Member Chairman of the Greater New Orleans Hotel Lodging Association. She also served on the State Board for Hotel and Lodging for 7 years (not consecutively) and as the Allied Rep on the Baton Rouge Hotel & Lodging Association. She worked for USA TODAY for 26 years and was very involved with local charities like Habitat for Humanity and Ronald McDonald House.
In 2017, Charlene began working for the Jefferson Parish Convention & Visitors Bureau as the Leisure Manager. Later she became involved in sales and her final position before retirement, Director of Partnerships and Travel Media. She was instrumental in creating FAM trips for these tour operators and travel writers to learn all about the many attractions on both the East and West banks of Jefferson Parish have to offer the visitors to our state.
Charlene is enjoying retirement spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and doing some home renovations and organization projects.
She loves staying involved with MSWIT after retirement to maintain the friendships that have become so important to her. Also, after her projects are complete she may want to do some part-time work a few days a week and MSWIT has great networking opportunities!
