Shannon’s career in tourism & the travel industry began 35 years ago selling tickets for the Steamboat NATCHEZ! After 16.5 years and a variety of titles and duties there, she moved over to Hotard Coaches as Director of Sales for 5 years. Bored with buses, she joined Landry’s Inc. as Regional Banquet Sales Manager for the next 6 years. Following a life changing event, she returned “home” to Hotard where she’s been for the past 7.5 years and intends to stay until retirement. Shannon recently transitioned from Director of Sales & Marketing to Director of Business Development with Hotard and says that this is probably her favorite role she’s had (except maybe that time they let her bartend for a private riverboat party on the COTTON BLOSSOM!)! It has allowed her to focus more on the parts of the job she loves the most – building relationships, creating partnerships, and championing the travel industry she’s passionate about.
Shannon currently serves as Treasurer on the Executive Board of Directors for Visit Jefferson Parish and has previously chaired its nominating committee. Over the years, she has held various board and committee positions with Hospitality Education & Networking Association, MSWIT, and New Orleans & Company.
Her hobbies include Travel (of course!). Her claim to fame is that she has visited all 50 states! She also loves crafting and upcycling with her daughter, and outdoor adventures of all kinds with her husband. A lifelong learner, Shannon holds Certified Travel Industry Specialist and Certified Tour Professional designations and she’s a graduate of the Louisiana Tourism Leadership Academy, Class of 2023.
Shannon says her favorite thing about being a member of MSWIT for the past 18 or so years is, without question, THE PEOPLE! “I’ve met the most amazing, intelligent, professional ladies through MSWIT. Many of whom I’ve maintained friendships with even after they’ve left the travel/tourism industry and MSWIT.”
